HHV delivers messages of public awareness and the need of volunteerism through its direct mail campaigns. Additionally, the mailings advise the American public of the need to show their support to hospitalized veterans. HHV's informational and fundraising appeals are the vehicle used to educate the public of the many ways they can assist veterans that are receiving care at VA and military facilities. The appeals also ask the potential donor to make a contribution to HHV to enable it to provide products and services to patients in those facilities. |

HHV also sponsors Re-Creation, USA by contributing $250,000 yearly to this youth entertainment troupe that performs nationwide in VA hospitals and state veterans homes. | HELP HOSPITALIZED VETERANS (HHV) |
"Since being founded in 1971 and incorporated on April 14, 1971, Help Hospitalized Veterans (HHV) was established for the purpose of distributing therapeutic arts an crafts kits free of charge to our nation's veterans and active duty military personnel receiving medical treatment at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Military Hospitals and State Veterans Nursing Homes. Additionally, HHV strives to educate the public of the many ways our citizenry can assist and show appreciation to veteran and military patients that are receiving their care at VA and military medical facilities. The medical facilities and patients pay nothing for this generous service made possible by thousands of caring contributors that want to express their love and appreciation to America's Heroes. The Board of Directors of HHV has made resolutions to assist as many of the hospitalized veterans and active military personnel patients and their families through a variety of programs and initiatives." |

VOLUNTEERING
Why Volunteer As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to give the very best, because you give of yourself. The inner satisfaction that comes from helping others and the pride of accomplishment in a job well done is often a volunteer’s greatest reward. When you volunteer you are giving back to those who gave it their all for your freedom.
While volunteering you can develop life long relationships, cultivate new skills and gain valuable personal skills such as patients and tolerance. Not to mention the personal satisfaction that comes from lending a helping hand.
VA Volunteering The Department if Veteran Affairs Voluntary Service (VAVS) is the largest volunteer program in the Federal government. Since 1946 the VAVS has provided over 60 years and 600 million hours of voluntary service to America’s veterans seeking care in VA health care facilities. The VAVS notes that, “It is impossible to calculate the amount of caring and sharing that these VAVS volunteers provide to veteran patients. VAVS volunteers are a priceless asset to the Nation’s veterans and to the Department of Veterans Affairs.”
