HHV PROGRAMS AND SERVICES



Since being founded in 1971 and incorporated on April 14, 1971, Help Hospitalized Veterans (HHV) was established for the purpose of distributing therapeutic arts an crafts kits free of charge to our nation's veterans and active duty military personnel receiving medical treatment at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Military Hospitals and State Veterans Nursing Homes. Hospitals and patients pay nothing for this generous service made possible by thousands of caring contributors that want to express their love and appreciation to America's Heroes. The Board of Directors of the organization has made resolutions to assist as many of the hospitalized veterans and active military personnel patients and their families through a variety of programs and initiatives.

Additionally, HHV endeavors to:

1. Encourage correspondence and pen-pal relationships between our citizenry and veterans patients receiving treatment.

2. Urge citizens to volunteer their services to VA, military and state medical facilities that treat America’s veterans and active duty military personnel.

3. Promote understanding and support among our citizenry for our nation's veterans and active duty military personnel.

4. Augment VA and military staff by providing HHV Craft Care Specialists.

5. Provide Purple Heart recipient veterans that are homebound as a result of combat a variety of craft kits, computers, internet access systems, videos, books and other products.

6. Provide financial support to the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes Foundation whose mission is to provide product and services to severely wounded veterans and active duty personnel of the War on Terror. Products and services includes computers, furtherance veteran education, home acquisition, employment assistance, emergency financial relief, caregiver assistance and much more.

7. Financial and service support as the national co-sponsor with the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of the VA's National Veterans Creative Arts Festival and as a host sponsor of the VA's National Veterans Golden Age Games.

8. Financial support of the entertainment troupe Re-Creation whose mission includes live therapeutic variety show performances at VA hospitals and State Veterans Nursing Homes nationwide.

9. Financial support of Bugles Across America whose mission is to provide a central place for horn players to sign up and be listed to play live TAPS for Military Funeral Honors nationwide for all veterans who served their country.

10. Develop "Special Projects" marketing acquisition programs to enable the organization to help augment and assist current VA and DOD programs.
